Adult ADHD Assessment
Why book your ADHD assessment with
Blue Dot Psychology?

ADHD Expertise
Over fifteen years working in mental health services, I have developed a strong interest in neurodivergence, which has led to me seeking out and attending several training courses on ADHD presentations in adults.
I have completed training in:
-
DIVA diagnostic interview with Kings College London
-
Neurodiversity Affirming ADHD Assessment
-
Qb Check
-
Psychosocial Interventions for ADHD
-
Neurodiversity-Affirming Trauma-Informed Therapy
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for ADHD
My background in both community and inpatient NHS mental health services as well as in mental health research has equipped me with a good understanding of common mental health presentations that may look like or co-exist alongside adult ADHD, so I can make accurate and well-informed diagnostic decisions.

Neurodiversity Affirming
I feel passionately about neurodiversity being recognised, accepted and celebrated, just as biodiversity is. I do not accept either the deficit model of neurodivergence nor the 'superhero' narrative. Being neurodivergent can feel like a gift sometimes, and for many it can also pose significant challenges in a world that doesn't feel a good fit. The assessments and therapeutic work I offer recognise the broad spectrum of experiences people may have, without making assumptions or viewing ADHD characteristics as necessarily problematic.
Prompt Assessment
I do not hold a long waiting list. I will usually be able to offer a first appointment within 3 weeks. If our appointments go ahead as planned, I would expect you to have your feedback appointment and comprehensive report within 6 weeks of booking.

Evidence-Based Approach
I follow the NICE Guidance on ADHD diagnosis and management. I pride myself on conducting a thorough assessment, using my clinical knowledge and skills to consider a person's history, presentation, other potential diagnoses, collateral information from loved ones, and objective information from a computerised task.
Professional ethics and integrity are important to me, and I will only make a diagnosis if there is sufficient evidence of ADHD to meet the diagnostic criteria. I take a holistic approach to ADHD assessment, and have received training in identifying more subtle ADHD presentations, such as in people who are predominantly inattentive, or those who have masked for a long time.
Post-Diagnostic Support
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am not able to prescribe medication. If you feel strongly that you would want to pursue a trial of ADHD medication if you were to receive a diagnosis, then you may prefer to seek out a psychiatrist to conduct a diagnostic assessment, as it is possible they could oversee a trial of medication soon after diagnosis.
What I can offer post-assessment is:
-
Signposting to online self-help resources as standard in your assessment report.
-
Details of a recommended prescriber who you can make contact with following diagnosis, if you wish to.
-
A bundle of up to 4 supportive coaching sessions following diagnosis to formulate areas of difficulty, experiment with potential workarounds and identify strengths and resources (additional charge).
